NoVACAIN Kennel Meet & Greet 2018

THESE ARE THE 3 EVENTS & RULES FOR "September 15th NoVACAIN Kennels Meet & Greet"

The events rules are also listed in the order that the competitions will take place, starting with Sprint 50 and ending with Hang Time

SPRINT 50:
This event requires 2 handlers, dogs will race the clock, one dog at a time for a straight 50 yards.

Judges:

1. One handler will hold the dog at the start line and the second handler will be behind the finish line waiting to bait the dog.

2. Starting line judge will yell, "On your mark, get set, GO!" and throw his raised arm down after saying the word, "GO".

3. The clock will only start on the word, "GO" and starting line judge’s arm signal.

4. The clock will stop when the dogs entire body has passed the finish line

5. The starting line handler, must throw his hands fully overhead as he or she releases the dog.

6. The starting line judge will watch the starting line handler and will disqualify the team if the dog is released before the before the word, "GO".

7. Finish line handler must stay behind the finish line at all times.

8. Finish line handlers bait may be a bite pad, tug, or nonliving food. (NO STUFFED ANIMALS ALLOWED)

9. Finish line handler must quickly secure the dog with a lead once the finish line is crossed

10. Finish line judge will start his clock when the starting line judge drops his arm and yells “GO”

11. Finish line judge will watch the finish line handler and disqualify the team if the finish line handler crosses the finish line.

NOTE: A team is allowed ONLY 1 Foul. In the event a 2nd foul is committed the team will be disqualified.

Fouls: False start, leaving leads on dogs during SPRINT, corrections and or pinch collars.

Disqualifications: Aggressive or uncontrollable dogs (including loose dog), aggressive gestures by handlers and or unsportsmanlike conduct.

TIE BREAKER: FASTEST 75 YARDS

TUG of WAR: (Sex of Dog is not a factor)
Dogs will tug, from behind an upright plywood barrier, with a hole drilled in it for the rope to pass through.

1. Dogs must be at least 11 months old to compete.

2. No double classing allowed

3. Handlers of dogs falling on class lines must choose at time of weigh in which class they will compete in.

4. Standing judge will yell out, “Dogs take bite, Ready, TUG”

5. Two judges will be watching the dogs and handlers at all times during the pull

6. Dogs must grab the tug toy and begin pulling within 20 seconds of the start of the Tug of War or it automatically loses.

7. Handlers are not allowed to touch the dog once tugging has started

8. Handlers must have a leash on the dogs at all times but may not issue corrections or pull the dog backwards.

9. The judges may disqualify a contestant for giving corrections or touching the dog during tugging.

10. The rope is 30 feet long and is marked in the center and 10 feet from the center (length of pull is 10 feet for a win).

11. A dog wins when it has pulled his opponent past the outer rope mark.

12. Each pair of tugging dogs will go against each other only one time.

13. A round robin elimination system will be used.

14. A coin flip will determine which side of the barrier a dog will pull from.

15. To complete this event a dog must grab the tug toy and pull backwards, i.e., it must tug against its opponent.

Fouls: pull backs, corrections, or handler touching the dog.

Disqualifications: Aggressive or uncontrollable dogs (including loose dog), aggressive gestures by handlers and or unsportsmanlike conduct or dog not tugging within 20 seconds of start.

HANG TIME: This event is the last event, it comes after Tug of War, and Sprint 50.

1. The dog has a 3-minute time limit on the spring pole to complete this event.

2. The clock starts when all four feet are off the ground.

3. If the dog gets a single bite upon presentation of the tug toy and hangs on without re-biting for the full 3-minutes, it gets a perfect score of ten points.

4. For every time it loses its grip and is forced to re-bite, it loses one point.

5. The clock stops when (if) the dog loses its grip and starts again when all four feet are off the ground.

6. If the dog loses his grip he must immediately be presented with the tug and hoisted upward.

7. The dog is disqualified after losing its grip four times, for safety reasons.

8. The Judge may disqualify a dog before it loses its grip four times if he believes the grips are not solid (for the safety of the dog).

Disqualifications: Aggressive or uncontrollable dogs (including loose dog), aggressive gestures by handlers and or unsportsmanlike conduct.

Weigh in times will be posted and open one hour prior to start of competition or when Judge designates:

Weight Divisions For All 3 Events:

Light Weight Division
30 lbs.-45 lbs. Males and Females

Welter Weight Division
50 lbs.-65 lbs. Males and Females

Middle Weight Division
70 lbs.-85 lbs. Males and Females

Heavy Weight Division
90 lbs. + Male & Females
