These antibiotics are what I feel and call the must have on hand. This group of antibiotics will cover a wide range of issues that may arie on the yard, and it’s better to be ready than waiting. From minor skin issues to deep tissue problems I feel this group will keep you headed in the right direction.
AMOXICILLIN (FISH MOX FORTE) (500mg) - A good all purpose antibiotic for flesh, which is also compatible with other antibiotics, it’s best used as a preventative antibiotic or treatment in acute infections.
AMPICILLIN (FISH CILLIN) (250mg) - A little stronger than amoxicillin, but not compatible with other antibiotics; it’s often used more for the flesh wounds and minor infections than Amoxicillin.
CEPHALEXIN (FISH FLEX FORTE) (500mg) - One of the best all purpose antibiotics and a must have, a fair choice for most skin infections and for mastitis preventive, UTI’s, and some forms of bone infection.
DOXYCYCLINE (BIRD BIOTIC) (100mg) - Containing a broader spectrum of efficacy that penetrates further into cells with minimal side effects, Doxycycline is simply superior to Tetracycline and another must have. It also has a strong effect in fighting mastitis, kennel cough, and UTI’s; but its greatest use is being the best choice in fighting and treating all ailments from tick-borne diseases.
METRONIDAZOLE (FISH ZOLE FORTE) (500mg) - This antibiotic should not be used in taking care of wounds, but it is best used for fighting the intestinal infection Giardia alongside Fenbendazole
PENICILLIN (FISH PEN FORTE) (500mg)
SULFAMETHOXAZOLE, TRIMETHOPRIM (FISH SULFA FORTE “SMZ-TMP”) (800mg) (160mg) - An excellent choice for wound care, but it’s best used for treating mastitis because it penetrates deep into the mammary tissue even in the milk, and another must have. It also can be used for other infections as well as being effective for kennel cough.
